Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

• To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Pontypool, you must be at least 21 years old, though certain vehicle types may have different age restrictions, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You must possess a valid driving licence suited to the vehicle category, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Pontypool office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Total payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported without delay. A vehicle condition report will be drafted and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same state as it was received, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and you may be charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel as at pickup; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. If you are unable to return the vehicle on time, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra charges. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, along with a small administration fee.

Insurance and Liability Terms

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help lower your financial responsibility. It is beneficial to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.

7. Usage Restrictions

Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:

• Use of our vehicles for illegal activities is prohibited, including but not limited to racing, rallying, and off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles must be used within their designated purpose and should not exceed passenger or weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

Limitations on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Pontypool is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent actions.

Governing Law in Pontypool

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in these regions.

Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
