Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Pontypool, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid, full driving licence for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may also be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Pontypool office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT, where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, accounting for reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and applicable charges will apply. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred for lower levels. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us promptly if you expect a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Full details, including excess amounts, will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability, so we encourage a thorough review. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of your rental vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose and within established passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior consent is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Pontypool is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be settled exclusively within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
